Intention to Rest 2010/2011 Rates

Pursuant to section 119 of the Local Government Rating) Act 2002, the Hurunui District Council gives notice of its intention to set the 2010/2011 rates again at its meeting on 30 June 2011.

The Rates are to be reset at the same values as disclosed in the 2010/2011 Annual Plan:

Due Date for Payment of Rates

All rates will be payable in four instalments on due dates as follows:

Instalment  Due Date
One 20 August 2010
Two 22 November 2010
Three  21 February 2011
Four 20 May 2011


That pursuant to sections 57 and 58 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002,
the Council prescribes the following penalties to be added to unpaid rates:

i.    A charge of 10 per cent of the amount of any instalment that has been
     assessed after 1 July 2010 and which is unpaid after the due date.

ii.   A charge of 10 per cent on so much of any rates levied before 1 July 2010
      which remain unpaid on 30 June 2010.

iii. A charge of 10 per cent on any rate to which a penalty has been added
     under (ii) if the rates remain unpaid on 1 January 2011.
