MainPower Hurunui Natural Environment Fund
Applications for the annual MainPower Hurunui Natural Environment Fund are now Closed
The fund is open to residents of the Hurunui District and encourages voluntary and cooperative community partnerships working towards increasing the region’s biodiversity.
This year $10,000 will be allocated to projects that protect, restore or reinstate indigenous natural resources such as land, vegetation, wetland or bird habitats.
The types of projects that have been funded from the MainPower - Hurunui District Council fund include: Establishing the Jack Barron walkway in the Ashley Forest, the re-establishment of forest walkways, eradication of Willows to restore a gully, Rotherham waterway replanting, establishing native bush area in Balcairn and fencing of waterways to name just a few.
