Farm and Agricultural Recycling
Agrecovery Scheme
We providea drop-off point at the Culverden transfer station for the collection and recycling of high density polytethelene (HDPE) plastic agrichemical containers, including those which previously contained pesticides, veterinary medicines and agricultural chemicals.
Containers are shredded and recycled in New Zealand to make protective covers for electrical cables.
To be accepted by the Culverden transfer station they must be:
- not more than 60 litres
- triple rinsed before being brought to the transfer station.
- HDPE plastic
Containers approved by the programme will be accepted during normal opening hours at NO CHARGE.

Recycling Farm Plastics
Because we are keen to see an end to the practice of burning and burying waste plastics on farms in our district, we also support the product stewardship scheme to recover farm plastics for recycling.
The scheme, which has been operating for five years, has developed a network of collectors throughout the country, providing farmers with an “on farm collection” solution for used bale wrap, HDPE 100 and 200 litre drums, polypropylene bags and vineyard net.
